MARY SEWELL COOPER designs and constructs jewelry with an ethnic flair for women & men. Her Anthropological background informs her beaded designs, which incorporate elements from cultures around the world. Her Bronzclay, silver & etched brass jewelry represent her own Celtic/ Viking ethnic heritage or relate to her Abstract Expressionist painting style.

MARY SEWELL COOPER is an abstract expressionist painter with basic education in art at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and a Ph.D. in Anthropology. For the past seven years, she has studied with Peggy Zehring, director of the La Veta School of the Arts and student of Elaine DeKoonig. She is on the Board of the La Veta School of the Arts in La Veta, Colorado, where she also teaches classes. Her paintings are done with acrylics on unsealed, wet canvas and later put on stretcher frames and sealed. She has won awards in numerous shows and her work is in private collections in several states. |
